Meriç Orhan is an Istanbul-based artist, currently completing his undergraduate degree in Composition and Sound Technologies at Istanbul Bilgi University. His approach to sound draws on a conceptual and critical perspective, particularly in relation to cultural and philosophical contexts.
As part of his undergraduate studies, he has worked on various projects across contemporary classical composition, experimental electronic music, and multimedia composition, while in recent years his focus has increasingly shifted towards sound technologies, particularly audio recording, sound design, and post-production.

short film recorded live sound during short film production, operating boom microphones, setting up audio equipment, and managing levels to ensure clean, sync-ready recordings for post-production.
I completed this project as part of the MUS 445 Stereo Mixing course, finalizing a mix of Billie Jean by Michael Jackson with a focus on overall balance and natural sound, leaving -3 dBFS true peak headroom for mastering.
02.Azem 5: Zair
Sound Designer 2025Feature_Film
I worked on the sound design for the horror film Azem 5: Zair, focusing on foley, ambiences, and sound effects that support the narrative and reinforce tension. The project was completed in Pro Tools and released in cinemas on August 15, 2025.
I worked within a tight schedule, in close collaboration with the editors and directors, incorporating their feedback throughout the process.
I was not responsible for the music composition or the trailer sound design.
I recorded on-set sound for a short film, operating boom and lavalier microphones, managing the field recorder, and performing live gain staging to ensure clean, balanced audio. The recordings were delivered in a post-production–ready format with clear labeling and documentation. The process required technical precision and close collaboration with the director and camera team.
I developed and produced a podcast series focused on recent student movements in Turkey and their relationship to broader political issues. Alongside guest coordination and scheduling, I handled studio setup, recording, and full post-production, completing editing, mixing, and mastering to -16 LUFS podcast loudness standards.

Sound Designer
2024_Animated_Web_Series
I worked on the sound design for the first two episodes of Interface, an abstract animated web series by umami. Influenced by the surreal and experimental nature of the narrative and visuals, I approached the sound design through non-traditional methods. I designed and integrated ambient layers and detailed foley elements to support the animation’s rhythm and overall mood.
06.Piezo-Based Experimental Instrument
with Built-in Echo
Designer, Builder2023_ Noise_BoxI built a custom DIY noise box for experimental sound exploration. The instrument uses internal piezo elements for surface vibration pickup and includes a built-in echo module based on the PT2399 chip. The enclosure houses objects such as springs, a guitar string, and a fidget spinner. The echo effect is controlled via dry/wet mix and echo length knobs, allowing real-time manipulation of processed textures. The box outputs sound through a standard 6.5 mm jack.
